Overview

MicroRNA 4321 (MIR4321) is a small, non-coding RNA gene located on human chromosome 19 that encodes a predicted microRNA involved in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression[6][7]. Like other microRNAs, MIR4321 is transcribed and processed to produce a short, mature miRNA which may bind to messenger RNAs, typically resulting in downregulation of target gene expression through translational inhibition or mRNA destabilization[7]. The precise cellular functions, validated mRNA targets, and role in human physiology or disease for MIR4321 remain unknown[6][7]. There is currently no evidence that MIR4321 is a therapeutic target, nor are any biomarkers, safety concerns, or interacting drugs reported for this gene. It is classified as a microRNA based on sequence and biogenesis criteria, but function and clinical relevance are yet to be elucidated.

Mechanism of action

Not applicable (no known drugs, and function is unclear)

03

Biological functions

Regulation of gene expression (post-transcriptional)Potential involvement in various cellular processes (precise functions currently unknown)
04

Disease associations

Persistent Mullerian Duct Syndrome (based on limited disease associations; evidence for direct functional relevance is weak and may be based on genomic proximity rather than mechanistic insight)Other (due to the typical roles of miRNAs in disease, though no roles are specifically attributed to miR-4321 as of now)
