Overview

MicroRNA 4433a (MIR4433A) is a member of the microRNA family, a class of small (20–24 nucleotide) non-coding RNAs that post-transcriptionally regulate gene expression by binding and modulating the stability and translation of target mRNAs[2][4]. Like other miRNAs, MIR4433A is processed from a primary transcript (pri-miRNA) to a precursor and then a mature form that incorporates into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), guiding the repression of specific mRNAs. MIR4433A has been identified as differentially expressed in the serum of patients with lung adenocarcinoma, where its 3p variant (miR-4433a-3p) serves as a sensitive and specific blood biomarker for early detection and therapeutic monitoring[1]. It may influence tumour growth and metastasis by targeting genes such as PIK3CD, UBE2J2, ICMT, and PRDM16, and by modulating relevant cancer-associated signalling pathways (MAPK, Ras, PI3K/AKT)[1]. There are currently no known drug interactions or approved therapeutics targeting MIR4433A. Its broader role and disease specificity require further study, as limited clinical and mechanistic information is available.
