Overview

microRNA 4435-2 (MIR4435-2) is a non-coding RNA gene in humans encoding a mature microRNA molecule that participates in regulating mRNA stability and translation. Like other microRNAs, MIR4435-2 is generated through a multi-step biogenesis pathway, involving DROSHA and DICER processing, and becomes loaded onto the Argonaute protein (Ago2) as part of the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to exert its regulatory function by repressing protein translation or promoting mRNA degradation. Variants (isomiRs) arising from this locus may differ in sequence and biological roles. MicroRNA 4435-2 and its isoforms are expressed in a tissue-specific manner and may play roles in cancer progression and cellular differentiation, especially as seen for other members of the microRNA family[1][2][3][4]. There is currently limited functional and disease-specific information specifically about MIR4435-2—most general microRNA data applies provisionally. No direct drug interactions or clinical biomarkers are reported for this locus. The nomenclature and classification are consistent with international standards, and the molecule is considered a valid gene-regulatory therapeutic target in principle.
