Overview

MicroRNA 4446 (MIR4446) is a human microRNA gene encoding a short (20–24 nt) non-coding RNA that belongs to the microRNA (miRNA) class[1]. MiRNAs are produced from capped and polyadenylated primary transcripts, processed by Drosha and Dicer ribonucleases, and loaded into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) for regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms. The mature miRNA guides RISC to target mRNAs by imperfect base pairing, leading to inhibition of translation or destabilization of the target mRNA[1][3][4]. MIR4446 has been associated with epilepsy[1], but no direct links to drug interactions or established therapeutic targeting have been described. Like other microRNAs, MIR4446 may serve as a potential biomarker due to the stability and detectability of miRNAs in biofluids, but no specific biomarker applications have been established for this gene[3][7].
