MicroRNA 4453 (MIR4453) is a human microRNA gene that encodes a short non-coding RNA molecule involved in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression. Like other microRNAs, MIR4453 is processed from a primary transcript into a mature 20–24 nucleotide RNA that is incorporated into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), which targets messenger RNAs for translational inhibition or degradation through imperfect base pairing. The specific biological roles and disease associations of MIR4453 are currently not well characterized, but the general function of microRNAs includes fine-tuning protein output and buffering gene expression to promote cellular robustness.
