MicroRNA 4463 (miR-4463) is a small, single-stranded, non-coding RNA approximately 21–23 nucleotides in length, classified as a microRNA. It functions in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression by binding complementarily to target messenger RNAs (mRNAs), typically leading to gene silencing through mRNA degradation or inhibition of translation. In human ovarian biology, miR-4463 has been identified as a negative regulator of the CYP19A1 gene, which encodes aromatase, a key enzyme in estrogen synthesis. Elevated expression of miR-4463 is associated with decreased CYP19A1 expression and reduced estradiol levels, correlating with diminished ovarian reserve and poor response to assisted reproductive technologies. Circulating serum levels of miR-4463 may serve as a biomarker for assessing ovarian reserve. Like other miRNAs, miR-4463 is not considered a classic therapeutic target such as a receptor or enzyme but rather a regulatory RNA with potential diagnostic value in reproductive medicine[1][4].
