Overview

microRNA 4464 is a human microRNA gene, designated MIR4464 (also known as hsa-mir-4464), that encodes for a short non-coding RNA molecule. Like other microRNAs, MIR4464 is involved in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression, mainly by binding to complementary sequences on target messenger RNAs (mRNAs) and resulting in repression of translation or degradation of the mRNA[2][3]. MIR4464 has been detected in all B-cell samples examined in some studies,[3] but it has not been identified as a major disease-associated miRNA, nor is it currently recognized as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or drug-interacting molecule. There is no evidence to indicate the target is misspelled, or non-existent, although detailed functional characterization is lacking. Notes on evidence and limitations: - No information was found linking MIR4464 with specific drugs, disease, or a mechanism of therapeutic action.[1][3] - MIR4464 is part of the growing family of annotated human microRNAs, the functions of which are being gradually elucidated, but many, including MIR4464, remain poorly characterized. - As of the given search, there is no report of MIR4464 being a direct therapeutic target in clinical or preclinical pharmacology.
