MicroRNA 4467 (MIR4467)

Target
MIR4467
Molecular classification
microRNA, non-coding RNA
01

Overview

MicroRNA 4467 (MIR4467) is a human microRNA gene producing a mature miRNA of 20–24 nucleotides, classified as a non-coding RNA. Like other miRNAs, MIR4467 regulates gene expression at the post-transcriptional level by guiding the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to target mRNAs, resulting in translational inhibition or destabilization of target mRNA molecules. Its biological effects are inferred from general miRNA functional studies, with established roles in cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, and survival. Specific characterization of MIR4467’s molecular targets, biological functions, and disease associations remains limited

Mechanism of action

Not applicable (miRNAs as targets are generally modulated by mimics or inhibitors in experimental settings; for MIR4467, a mimic would upregulate its activity, leading to its gene-silencing effects)

03

Biological functions

Post-transcriptional gene silencingmRNA degradationTranslational inhibitionRegulation of cell differentiation, proliferation, and survival (by analogy with general miRNA function)
04

Disease associations

Cancer (miRNAs in general are involved in tumorigenesis, regulation of oncogenes and tumor suppressors; specific data for MIR4467 is not available but inferred from class)Other (miRNAs are implicated in various diseases, but no direct evidence for MIR4467 in other disease contexts)
05

Safety considerations

None identified specific to MIR4467; in general, delivery and off-target effects are challenges for miRNA-based therapeutics
06

Biomarkers

miRNAs, including MIR4467, may serve as biomarkers for cancer classification and subtype identification; however, no specific evidence for MIR4467 as a clinical biomarker was found
