Overview

MicroRNA 4469 (miR-4469) is a small, single-stranded, non-coding RNA classified as a microRNA that modulates gene expression at the post-transcriptional level by interacting with messenger RNAs, typically leading to their degradation or translational repression[3]. It functions as a tumor suppressor in colorectal cancer, where it is more highly expressed in normal colon tissue than in tumor tissue. Increased miR-4469 levels are associated with inhibition of colorectal cancer cell proliferation and migration and improved patient survival. The primary mechanism appears to be the regulation of inflammatory cell infiltration in tumor tissue, and miR-4469 expression affects the expression of target genes including SLC2A3, FGR, PLEKHO2, and MYO1F[1]. Although research describes its tumor suppressive properties, current evidence does not suggest it is a direct therapeutic drug target or receptor, but rather a candidate biomarker for cancer prognosis and biological research[1].
