Overview

MicroRNA 4477b (miR-4477b) is a non-coding RNA molecule belonging to the microRNA family, which regulates gene expression post-transcriptionally by binding to complementary sequences on target mRNAs, leading to their degradation or translational repression[1][3][5][7]. Mutations in miR-4477b, specifically a base substitution at chromosome 9q13, have been associated with colorectal adenomas and colorectal cancer (CRC), suggesting a role in tumorigenesis and cancer progression[1]. Bioinformatic analyses indicate that miR-4477b targets genes involved in critical cellular processes such as the cell cycle (G1/S transition), mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling, protein phosphorylation, and actin cytoskeleton regulation[1]. KEGG pathway enrichment shows its target genes are linked to cancer-associated pathways, particularly the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway, pathways in cancer, and renal cell carcinoma[1]. Evidence for direct pharmacological targeting or clinical use as a therapeutic target is currently lacking.
