MicroRNA 4480 (MIR4480) is a short, non-coding RNA molecule processed from a primary transcript by Drosha and Dicer into a mature form about 20-24 nucleotides long. Like other miRNAs, MIR4480 is believed to regulate gene expression post-transcriptionally by binding to partially complementary sequences in target messenger RNAs, leading to translational inhibition or mRNA degradation. The full spectrum of its biological targets and functional roles remains to be defined, as it has not been widely studied or associated with specific diseases. MicroRNAs in general are involved in buffering gene expression, cell proliferation, differentiation, and other essential cellular processes
