microRNA 4489 (miR-4489, also known as hsa-miR-4489 or MIR4489) is a human microRNA—part of a class of small non-coding RNAs that regulate gene expression at the post-transcriptional level by binding to target messenger RNAs and repressing their translation or promoting their degradation[3][4]. Like other microRNAs, miR-4489 is transcribed as a non-coding gene product and undergoes multiple processing steps to yield its mature form, which then participates in gene regulatory networks. miR-4489 has been annotated in humans and is included in large miRNA screens studying cancer biology, including studies on tumor tissue-of-origin classification[1]. However, specific information about its target genes, interaction with drugs, and detailed biological roles remains limited in the current literature. There is no evidence of miR-4489 being a direct therapeutic target in the sense of receptors, enzymes, or transporters; instead, it serves as a potential biomarker for disease classification and may contribute to various regulatory processes associated with cancer[1][4].
