MIR4502
Molecular classification
MicroRNA, Non-coding RNA, Regulator of gene expression

Overview

MicroRNA 4502 (MIR4502) is a small non-coding RNA molecule in humans belonging to the microRNA (miRNA) family. MicroRNAs function at the post-transcriptional level to regulate gene expression, typically by binding to complementary sequences on target mRNAs, resulting in translational repression or mRNA degradation[2][1][4]. The mature MIR4502 sequence, like other miRNAs, is incorporated into the miRNA-induced silencing complex (miRISC) and guides it to specific mRNA targets through sequence complementarity, primarily in the 3′ untranslated region of target mRNAs[2][1]. While the broad biological functions of miRNAs include modulation of cell differentiation, proliferation, apoptosis, and other cellular processes[2][1][4], no specific functional, disease, or pharmacological associations are currently established for MIR4502.
