Overview

MicroRNA 4505 (MIR4505, also known as hsa-mir-4505) is a small, non-coding RNA of 20–24 nucleotides that is transcribed by RNA polymerase II and processed from precursor transcripts to mature miRNA, which are then incorporated into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC). MIR4505 regulates gene expression at the post-transcriptional level, primarily through translational inhibition or destabilization of target mRNAs. It has been identified as upregulated in plasma in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and coronary artery disease, where it participates in key molecular pathways including fatty acid metabolism, neurotrophin signaling, leukocyte transendothelial migration, TGF-beta signaling, cell cycle regulation, and vascular endothelial proliferation. MIR4505, as part of a three-miRNA plasma panel, demonstrates high sensitivity and specificity as a non-invasive biomarker for coronary artery disease in patients with diabetes. No direct drug interactions or therapeutically targeted drugs have been reported for MIR4505 to date[1][3][6].
