MicroRNA 4506 (miR-4506, also known as hsa-mir-4506, MIR4506) is a member of the microRNA (miRNA) family, a class of short (~22 nucleotide) non-coding RNA molecules involved in the regulation of gene expression at the post-transcriptional level[1][4][5]. miRNAs achieve this by binding to complementary sequences in target messenger RNA (mRNA) molecules, typically leading to translational repression or mRNA degradation[1][4]. While miRNAs have increasingly recognized roles in cellular differentiation, proliferation, and various disease states, individual functions and disease associations of many specific miRNAs—including miR-4506—remain largely uncharacterized in the publicly available literature as of this time. No evidence indicates that miR-4506 is itself a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or therapeutic target. Instead, it is a regulatory RNA and not a direct drug target[2][5].
