microRNA 4507 (miR-4507) is a small, non-coding RNA molecule that functions primarily as a post-transcriptional regulator of gene expression[2]. It is upregulated in several cancers, including non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), where it promotes cell proliferation and migration by directly targeting the tumor suppressor gene TP53, leading to activation of the PI3K/AKT pathway[1]. In hepatocellular carcinoma, higher circulating levels of miR-4507 in patient serum are associated with increased overall survival, indicating a possible protective or prognostic role in this cancer type[3]. miR-4507, like other microRNAs, does not encode a protein and functions by binding to messenger RNA targets, causing their degradation or inhibiting translation. No approved drugs are currently known to specifically target miR-4507 in clinical practice.
