microRNA 450a-2 (MIR450A2)

microRNA 450a-2 is a member of the microRNA-450 family, classified as a small non-coding RNA molecule involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression[5]. miRNAs typically act by binding to complementary sequences on target mRNAs, leading to mRNA degradation or inhibition of translation[5]. hsa-miR-450a-2 (or MIR450A2) has been noted as downregulated in several cancers and may serve as a diagnostic or prognostic biomarker[3]. Emerging experimental data also suggest cardioprotective effects in cardiac myocytes, although its functional roles and therapeutic targeting remain preliminary[6]. There is currently no evidence that MIR450A2 is a direct therapeutic target (such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or druggable protein); instead, it is primarily of interest as a regulatory RNA and potential biomarker[3][5][6].
