Overview

MicroRNA 4513 (miR-4513) is a small non-coding RNA belonging to the microRNA family, functioning as a post-transcriptional regulator of gene expression. It is processed to a mature length of approximately 22 nucleotides and acts through complementary binding to target mRNAs, primarily in the 3′-untranslated regions, resulting in mRNA translational repression or degradation. It is notable for harboring a common seed region polymorphism (rs2168518), which results in allele-specific gene targeting and has been associated with multiple complex diseases. Overexpression of miR-4513 has been reported in various cancers, where it promotes cell proliferation, migration, and invasion through downregulation of targets such as KAT6B in gastric cancer and TRIM3 in breast cancer, and regulates additional targets including CDKN2A in an allele-dependent manner. Expression of miR-4513 and its seed region variant are emerging as potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets, specifically due to their links with cancer prognosis, cardiovascular, and metabolic disorders[1][2][3][4].
