MicroRNA 4520-2 (MIR4520-2)

Target
MIR4520-2
Molecular classification
microRNA, Non-coding RNA
01

Overview

MicroRNA 4520-2 is a short (20–24 nucleotide) non-coding RNA belonging to the microRNA class, which regulate gene expression post-transcriptionally by affecting both the stability and translation of messenger RNAs. MicroRNAs are transcribed as part of long primary transcripts, then processed by Drosha and Dicer enzymes to yield mature microRNA that is loaded into an RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC). The RISC-loaded microRNA recognizes target mRNAs through base pairing and primarily causes translational inhibition or destabilization of the mRNA. Specific information about the biological function or disease involvement of MIR4520-2 is lacking. Like other microRNAs, its primary role is presumed to be fine-tuning gene expression networks in human cells, but no unique or canonical pathophysiological function has been identified for this microRNA to date
