MicroRNA 4530 (miR-4530, also known as hsa-miR-4530 or MIR4530) is an endogenous, non-coding microRNA located on chromosome 19. It serves as a post-transcriptional regulator of gene expression, binding target mRNA transcripts and promoting mRNA degradation or inhibiting their translation. miR-4530 has been shown to suppress cell proliferation and enhance apoptosis in various cell types by targeting specific genes, notably Ras p21 protein activator 1 (RASA1) via effects on ERK/MAPK and PI3K/AKT signaling pathways in endothelial cells and some cancers[1][2]. In breast carcinoma and other cancer models, miR-4530 also targets vasohibin-1 (VASH1), promoting angiogenesis and apoptosis[4][6]. Expression of miR-4530 is dysregulated in several diseases, including upregulation in diabetic retinopathy and downregulation in pancreatic and biliary-tract cancers, making it a potential disease biomarker[1][5]. miR-4530’s role as a regulator of cell proliferation, apoptosis, angiogenesis, and its differential disease-associated expression suggest its possible value as a therapeutic or diagnostic target, but direct drug interactions or approved therapeutics modulating miR-4530 have not yet been described in available literature.
