MicroRNA 4659b (MIR4659B, hsa-mir-4659b) is a short (20-24 nucleotides) non-coding RNA molecule classified as a microRNA. As with other microRNAs, MIR4659B functions primarily in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms. MicroRNAs are produced through a multi-step process involving the cleavage of precursor transcripts by Drosha and Dicer enzymes to yield a mature miRNA, which is loaded into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC). MicroRNAs are broadly involved in a variety of fundamental processes, but there is currently no published evidence linking microRNA 4659b specifically to a therapeutic target, drug interactions, disease associations, or direct use as a biomarker.
