MicroRNA 466 (miR-466) is a small, non-coding regulatory RNA molecule classified as a microRNA, transcribed from the MIR466 gene. It functions predominantly as a tumor suppressor in several human cancers, including prostate cancer, colorectal cancer, and osteosarcoma. miR-466 inhibits tumor growth and metastasis by directly downregulating key oncogenes such as RUNX2 and CCND1, suppressing genes involved in migration, invasion, angiogenesis, and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition. miR-466 is significantly downregulated in multiple cancer types, and its restoration leads to decreased cell proliferation, migration/invasion, as well as induction of cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. High miR-466 levels are associated with better prognosis, making it a promising diagnostic and prognostic biomarker and putative therapeutic target in oncology[1][2][3][4][6][5].
