Overview

MicroRNA 4663 (MIR4663) is a member of the human microRNA gene family and produces a short non-coding RNA that modulates gene expression post-transcriptionally. Like other miRNAs, MIR4663 is transcribed as a primary miRNA transcript, processed in the nucleus by Drosha/DGCR8, exported as precursor miRNA, and further processed by Dicer in the cytoplasm to yield the mature form. The mature MIR4663 is loaded into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), guiding it to partially complementary targets in the 3'-UTR of mRNAs, resulting in either mRNA degradation or inhibition of translation[1][5][6]. MiRNAs regulate diverse biological processes including cell proliferation, apoptosis, and development, and can act as oncogenes or tumor suppressors depending on cellular context[1][3][6]. Specific roles of MIR4663 have not been extensively characterized in the literature, but emerging evidence suggests miRNAs generally have profound effects across disease states and are being investigated as biomarkers and candidates for therapeutic modulation[1][3].
