MicroRNA 4671 (MIR4671)

Target
MIR4671
Molecular classification
microRNA (miRNA), Non-coding RNA
01

Overview

MicroRNA 4671 is a small, single-stranded, non-coding RNA molecule of approximately 21–23 nucleotides. Like other miRNAs, it functions as a post-transcriptional regulator of gene expression by base-pairing to complementary sequences in target mRNAs, leading to their silencing through mRNA degradation or translational inhibition. MIR4671 is listed as a human microRNA gene (hsa-mir-4671) and has been associated with rare conditions such as Meibomian cyst and Sebaceous adenoma, but its precise biological targets and significance remain largely uncharacterized. MicroRNAs overall play key roles in various cellular processes, but there is as yet no established therapeutic targeting or biomarker application for MIR4671.
