Overview

MicroRNA 4679-1 (MIR4679-1) is a short (~22 nucleotide), endogenous non-coding RNA molecule encoded in the human genome, belonging to the microRNA family. MicroRNAs such as MIR4679-1 are transcribed as longer primary miRNAs (pri-miRNAs), which are processed by Drosha and DGCR8 into precursor miRNAs (pre-miRNAs), exported to the cytoplasm, and further cleaved by Dicer into mature miRNA duplexes[4]. The mature microRNA strand is loaded into an Argonaute-containing miRNA-induced silencing complex (miRISC), where it guides the complex to complementary mRNA sequences, usually in the 3' untranslated region (3' UTR). The outcome is translational repression or mRNA destabilization, downstream effects that modulate gene expression at the post-transcriptional level[1][4]. MicroRNAs collectively have major roles in processes including cell proliferation, apoptosis, differentiation, cell fate decisions, immune modulation, and cancer biology[2][3]. However, the specific biological pathways, target genes, disease associations, and utility as a therapeutic target for microRNA 4679-1 remain largely uncharacterized in current scientific data and are not highlighted in major miRNA interaction or cancer datasets[3]. If more information or functional association becomes available, classification as a therapeutic target may change.
