microRNA 4689 (miR-4689) is a small, endogenous non-coding RNA involved in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression through the RNA interference pathway[2]. Note: miR-4689 is not a classic druggable "target" like a protein receptor or enzyme but is considered a functional target in RNA-based or gene expression-modifying therapeutic strategies; there are currently no approved drugs that specifically target this miRNA, but miRNA mimics and inhibitors are under experimental study[4].
