Overview

MicroRNA 4695 (MIR4695, hsa-mir-4695) is a small, endogenous, non-coding RNA molecule in humans that regulates gene expression at the post-transcriptional level, primarily via messenger RNA (mRNA) destabilization or inhibition of translation[1]. Among its described functional roles, miRNA-4695-3p has been shown to help prevent apoptosis (programmed cell death) in stored red blood cells (RBCs)[2]. This function contributes to the preservation of RBC integrity during storage periods, making MIR4695 a potential biomarker for evaluating the safety and quality of stored blood products[2].
