MicroRNA-4723 (miR-4723) is a small, non-coding RNA molecule belonging to the microRNA family that functions primarily in the regulation of gene expression by binding to target messenger RNAs and inhibiting their translation or promoting their degradation. It has been implicated as a tumor suppressor in several cancers, notably prostate cancer, where it inhibits tumor growth by inactivating Abelson family nonreceptor protein tyrosine kinases[5], and in triple-negative breast cancer, where its downregulation is associated with c-myc activity and may impact metastasis pathways such as those regulated by TRAF4[2]. miR-4723 exerts its effects through post-transcriptional gene silencing mechanisms, and its aberrant expression has been associated with cancer progression and poor prognosis in certain tumor types. There are currently no known drugs that directly interact with miR-4723, nor are standardized safety concerns established; however, the role of miR-4723 as a biomarker and potential therapeutic target in oncology continues to be explored.
