microRNA 4748 (MIR4748) is a human non-coding RNA gene of the microRNA family. MicroRNAs such as MIR4748 typically regulate gene expression post-transcriptionally by binding to complementary sequences in target mRNAs, leading to translational repression or transcript degradation. While miRNAs as a class play vital roles in cellular differentiation, developmental stage transitions, maintenance of cellular identity, and disease pathogenesis (notably cancer and neurodevelopmental conditions), there is currently no published characterization of MIR4748’s specific biological functions, target genes, or disease involvements in the available literature. MIR4748 thus remains a poorly characterized member of the human miRNAome, with no direct therapeutic or biomarker relevance established as of this writing[1][2][3][4].
