MIR4767
Molecular classification

Overview

MicroRNA 4767 (MIR4767) is a human microRNA gene producing a non-coding RNA molecule involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression. Like other microRNAs, it functions by base-pairing with target messenger RNAs (mRNAs), leading to mRNA degradation or inhibition of translation. In human vascular endothelial cells, miR-4767 has been shown experimentally to promote apoptosis by targeting and downregulating expression of the apoptosis inhibitor BCL2-like 12 (BCL2L12). Its cellular roles are not well characterized beyond this function, and there are no approved drugs or known direct pharmacological modulators. MIR4767 is associated with certain dermatological diseases by gene association but without established mechanistic links to pathogenesis. At present, MIR4767 is not considered a canonical therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor.
