Overview

microRNA 4776-2 (miR-4776-2) is a small non-coding RNA molecule belonging to the microRNA family. It primarily functions in post-transcriptional gene silencing by incorporating into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) and guiding it to partially complementary sequences in target mRNAs, resulting in translational repression or mRNA degradation[1][2][4]. One demonstrated functional role is the downregulation of NFKBIB, a regulator of NF-κB, implicating miR-4776-2 in the control of cell proliferation, apoptosis, and cell survival, and highlighting a potential regulatory role in infectious and inflammatory processes (e.g., during influenza infection)[4]. There is no evidence that miR-4776-2 itself is a therapeutic target (such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or similar druggable protein), and there are no approved drugs that directly target this microRNA[4].
