microRNA 5003 (MIR5003)

Target
MIR5003
Molecular classification
Non-coding RNA, microRNA, RNA gene regulator
01

Overview

microRNA 5003 (MIR5003) is a human, small non-coding RNA molecule that functions primarily in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression by binding to complementary sequences in target mRNAs, resulting in gene silencing via translational repression or mRNA degradation. The miR-5003-3p strand is overexpressed in liver cancer and has been shown to promote tumor progression by downregulating the expression of genes such as ABAT, BHMT, and SHMT1, which are associated with improved patient prognosis when highly expressed. MIR5003's dysregulation makes it a potential prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target in liver cancer[1][3][4].
