MicroRNA 513b (miR-513b)

Target
miR-513b
Molecular classification
MicroRNA, Non-coding RNA, RNA
01

Overview

MicroRNA 513b is a non-coding RNA (microRNA) involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression, typically by binding to specific mRNAs and inhibiting their translation or promoting their degradation[3]. It has been studied as a regulator of cell proliferation and apoptosis, notably acting as a tumor suppressor in cancers such as retinoblastoma by targeting TRIB1 and inhibiting the AKT/mTOR signaling pathway; however, it may also act as an oncogene in other cancers (e.g., cervical and ovarian cancer), suggesting context-dependent functions[2]. MIR513B and its mature form miR-513b-5p are encoded on the X chromosome and may serve as biomarkers or putative therapeutic targets for several cancers and certain developmental conditions[2][3]. No direct drug interactions are currently reported.
