MicroRNA 513c is a short non-coding RNA (miRNA) molecule that acts as a post-transcriptional regulator of gene expression, primarily through the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC). It targets specific mRNAs for translational inhibition or destabilization. miR-513c has been implicated in suppressing proliferation of certain cancer cells, such as glioblastoma, by repressing key genes (e.g., LRP6). Diseases associated with mutations or dysregulation of MIR513C include hypogonadotropic hypogonadism and male infertility. It belongs to the broader class of microRNAs responsible for fine-tuning gene expression in various biological and disease processes
