MicroRNA 518b (miR-518b) is a non-coding RNA from the C19MC cluster that modulates cellular gene expression by binding to mRNA target sequences, resulting in silencing via degradation or translation inhibition. It has a critical role in controlling cell proliferation, apoptosis, and angiogenesis, most notably acting as a tumor suppressor in glioblastoma by directly inhibiting PDGFRB expression[1]. miR-518b also facilitates trophoblast cell proliferation by targeting Rap1b and activating the Ras-MAPK pathway, playing a pathogenic role in preeclampsia[3].
