microRNA 5190 (miR-5190) is a member of the microRNA family, which consists of small non-coding RNA molecules (about 22 nucleotides in length) that regulate gene expression primarily by binding to complementary sequences in the 3' untranslated regions of target messenger RNAs, leading to mRNA degradation or translational repression[1][2]. As of the current literature and major genomic databases, there is no evidence that miR-5190 is a validated gene or a well-characterized functional microRNA species. It appears to be either very poorly characterized, misannotated, or not formally recognized as a functional microRNA in authoritative databases. Unlike well-known microRNA targets, there is no information on its role as a therapeutic target, association with disease, or its mechanism of action in the human genome. This suggests possible issues such as misnaming, lack of biological evidence, or an incorrect designation as a drug target.
