MicroRNA 5191 (MIR5191) is a small, non-coding RNA molecule belonging to the microRNA family, which regulates gene expression by binding to complementary sequences on target messenger RNAs, resulting in translational repression or mRNA degradation[4][3]. MIR5191 is annotated in the human genome with the HGNC symbol MIR5191 and is expressed as part of the broad pool of circulating and tissue microRNAs. While large-scale machine learning studies on cancer classification have occasionally included MIR5191 in high-dimensional miRNA panels[1], there is currently no robust evidence linking MIR5191 to specific diseases, biological pathways, or druggable mechanisms. Like most members of the microRNA family, MIR5191 may contribute to biological processes such as cell proliferation, apoptosis, and differentiation, primarily through the fine-tuning of gene expression, but it is not a canonical therapeutic target[4][3][1].
