MicroRNA 548i-2 (MIR548I2) is a short (20–24 nucleotide) non-coding RNA belonging to the microRNA class[1]. MicroRNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of capped and polyadenylated transcripts and serve as post-transcriptional regulators primarily by binding target mRNAs, leading to translational inhibition or destabilization of these mRNAs[1]. The mature miRNA is generated via sequential cleavage by Drosha and Dicer ribonucleases, and is subsequently loaded into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to guide sequence-specific repression of gene expression[1][2][5]. There are currently no known direct drug interactions, disease associations, or biomarker roles specifically linked to MIR548I2 in the literature. It is considered a non-coding regulatory RNA rather than a classical therapeutic target (such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter)[1][2].
