MicroRNA 548i-4 (MIR548I4)

Target
MIR548I4
Molecular classification
microRNA, Non-coding RNA
01

Overview

MicroRNA 548i-4 is a small non-coding RNA molecule belonging to the microRNA (miRNA) family, typically 20–24 nucleotides in length, that regulates gene expression in multicellular organisms by influencing the stability and translation efficiency of target mRNAs[1]. It is produced as part of a primary transcript by RNA polymerase II, proceeds through specific cleavage steps to yield the mature miRNA, and is loaded into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to modulate gene expression post-transcriptionally[1]. Members of the miRNA-548 family, including MIR548I4, have been implicated as potential biomarkers for early heart failure due to their unique downregulation in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from patients with dilated cardiomyopathy, though no direct therapeutic targeting or drug interactions are currently documented[2].
