MicroRNA 550a-2 (MIR550A2) is a member of the microRNA family, a class of small non-coding RNAs involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression, chiefly through binding to complementary sequences in target mRNAs, resulting in gene silencing. It is designated as hsa-mir-550a-2 in humans. There is currently no evidence that microRNA 550a-2 is a validated therapeutic target, nor are there characterized interacting drugs, established mechanisms of therapeutic action, or roles as a biomarker. Current research and review articles do not report recognized disease associations or functional studies specifically for MIR550A2; therefore, this entry is unlikely to correspond to a traditional druggable target, receptor, or enzyme and may represent an unvalidated or seldom-studied microRNA[2].
