MicroRNA 550b-2 (MIR550B2) is a short, non-coding RNA molecule (microRNA) that functions in the regulation of gene expression at the post-transcriptional level by binding to target messenger RNAs (mRNAs), resulting in the inhibition of their translation or their destabilization. Like other microRNAs, MIR550B2 is transcribed as part of a primary transcript, processed to a precursor miRNA, and further cleaved to produce the mature microRNA, which incorporates into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC)[1]. It is classified as a microRNA and part of the broader non-coding RNA family. While microRNAs in general have been implicated in diverse biological processes and diseases such as cancer and immune regulation[2], there is currently no specific evidence that MIR550B2 itself acts as a direct therapeutic target, biomarker, or interacts with specific drugs according to available data[1].
