microRNA 5584 (MIR5584, hsa-mir-5584) is a human microRNA, a small, non-coding RNA of ~22 nucleotides. Like other microRNAs, it is processed from a longer hairpin precursor and functions in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression by binding to complementary sequences on target messenger RNAs (mRNAs), typically resulting in their translational repression or degradation[3][4][6]. The specific target genes and physiological roles of MIR5584 have not been characterized in the scientific literature. MicroRNAs overall play critical roles in controlling cell differentiation, proliferation, apoptosis, and many other biological processes, and their dysregulation is linked to disease, but a MIR5584-specific function or disease association has not been identified[5][6].
