Overview

MicroRNA 563 (MIR563) is a human non-coding RNA gene encoding a microRNA, part of the miRNA family, which regulates gene expression primarily through base pairing with complementary sequences in mRNA targets, most often in the 3′ untranslated regions. Like other microRNAs, MIR563 is implicated in post-transcriptional gene silencing mechanisms and forms part of complex regulatory networks that control cellular differentiation, proliferation, apoptosis, and other critical processes. Aberrant expression of miRNAs, including MIR563, is associated with cancer and other diseases. MIR563 is specifically linked to squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck, although its broader disease relevance and potential as a therapeutic target or biomarker remain under investigation. No specific drugs directly targeting MIR563 are documented, but general miRNA modulation is an active area of research in drug development and diagnostics[1][2][3][5].
