MicroRNA 5692c-1 (MIR5692C1, hsa-mir-5692c-1) is a short (~20–24 nucleotide) regulatory RNA encoded in the human genome. Like other microRNAs, it does not encode protein but instead functions as part of the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), binding to target mRNAs and repressing their translation or directing their degradation. miR-5692c (which likely corresponds to MIR5692C1) has shown a role in promoting survival of endothelial cells by inhibiting PTEN and activating the AKT/ERK pathways in vitro, indicating a potential but as yet unexploited relevance to tissue regeneration or vascular biology.
