MicroRNA 570 is a human microRNA (non-coding RNA) that post-transcriptionally regulates the expression of various genes by binding to complementary sequences within target mRNAs, leading to inhibition of translation or mRNA degradation. It modulates diverse biological processes such as heat shock protein regulation, cellular senescence, inflammation, and cancer cell proliferation. The exact biological outcomes of miR-570 activity are highly context-dependent, with evidence for both tumor-suppressive and oncogenic effects in different tissues. Its clinical relevance derives from its involvement in cancer biology, chronic inflammatory diseases, and cellular aging, making it an emerging biomarker and therapeutic target for conditions like breast cancer, lung carcinoma, osteosarcoma, and COPD.
Drugs or molecules targeting miR-570 (e.g., antagomirs) act by blocking its ability to bind and repress target mRNAs, thereby restoring expression of proteins such as sirtuin-1, KLF9, and heat shock proteins.
