Overview

microRNA 5703 (miR-5703, also known as hsa-mir-5703 or MIR5703) is a small, non-coding RNA molecule belonging to the microRNA family, which functions chiefly in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression. miR-5703 directly targets messenger RNAs to repress translation or induce degradation, impacting cellular pathways. Specifically, miR-5703 is implicated in suppressing tumor growth and metastasis in liver cancer by downregulating the SRC-FAK-FOXO1 axis and influencing cell proliferation and migration[1]. In ovarian carcinoma, miR-5703 is aberrantly expressed in cancer stem-like spheres and is considered a candidate biomarker for these cell populations; its precise functional effects in tumor development and progression remain to be fully characterized[2]. There is currently no evidence that miR-5703 is the direct target of any clinically approved drugs, nor that it is used as a biomarker in standard clinical practice.
