Overview

MicroRNA 600 (miR-600) is a small, non-coding RNA molecule that regulates gene expression post-transcriptionally by binding to complementary sequences in target messenger RNAs (mRNAs), leading to translational repression or degradation of the target mRNA. miR-600 has been identified as a direct negative regulator of the tumor suppressor protein p53 by binding to a site in the 3′ UTR of p53 mRNA, especially relevant in mutant p53-expressing human colorectal cancer cells, where its overexpression inhibits cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and modulates EMT-associated protein expression. It also influences breast cancer stem cell fate by affecting Wnt signaling. The molecule is implicated in the regulation of cancer cell behavior and is under investigation as a therapeutic agent and biomarker in oncology
