Overview

microRNA 607 (miR-607) is a small, non-coding regulatory RNA belonging to the microRNA family, which modulates gene expression primarily by binding to the 3′UTR of target messenger RNAs and repressing their translation or inducing their degradation. miR-607 has been studied in the context of cancer, where it regulates tumor cell proliferation and invasion—most notably via interactions with long non-coding RNAs such as LINC00607 and circular RNAs such as hsa_circ_0072309 that act as molecular sponges. The downstream effects of miR-607 include regulation of key cell cycle and chromatin factors like E2F6. Its altered serum levels have been proposed as a biomarker for cancer prognosis. miR-607 functions within complex ceRNA networks, contributing to the fine-tuning of post-transcriptional gene expression and cellular robustness against various perturbations[1][3][5][6].
