miR-6071
Molecular classification
MicroRNA, Non-coding RNA, Gene regulator

Overview

MicroRNA 6071 (miR-6071) is a small, non-coding RNA molecule that functions as a gene regulator by binding to complementary sequences in target mRNAs and inhibiting their expression post-transcriptionally[1][3][5]. In glioblastoma, miR-6071 is significantly downregulated, and its overexpression suppresses tumor cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, while promoting apoptosis mainly by targeting the ULBP2 gene and inhibiting the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway[1]. High expression of miR-6071 is correlated with better prognosis in glioblastoma patients, indicating its potential as a prognostic biomarker or therapeutic target in this disease[1]. Like other microRNAs, miR-6071 is not a protein, enzyme, or receptor, but rather belongs to the class of small regulatory RNAs that silence gene expression and play important roles in a variety of cellular processes and diseases[1][3][5]. No drugs are currently known to directly interact with miR-6071.
