Overview

microRNA 6074 (MIR6074) is a human microRNA gene encoding a short (generally 21–23 nucleotide) non-coding RNA molecule that regulates gene expression post-transcriptionally[5][7]. Like other microRNAs, MIR6074 produces a mature RNA product that is processed from a hairpin precursor and then incorporated into the RNA-induced silencing complex, where it binds to target messenger RNAs (mRNAs), resulting in translational repression or mRNA degradation[1][8]. MicroRNAs are abundant and dynamically expressed in most mammalian cells and play a critical role in controlling the production of proteins required for normal and pathological processes[1][9]. While the general role of microRNAs in gene regulation and disease is well established, no specific functional, disease, or pharmacological role for MIR6074 has yet been defined in the biomedical literature or major gene databases[5][7].
